What is a forsheda seal?
V-ring seals are all-rubber seals used primarily to exclude dirt and other contaminants. They are stretched over shafts and seal against the side of housing or another machine component.
What is v-Ring?
V-rings – Axial seals for shafts and bearings. V-rings seal axially against a counter-face. This type of seal has proved to be reliable and effective against dust, dirt, water and oil splash and other media. The V-ring also reduces wear and extends the service life of the oil seal and bearings.
What is the function of V-ring?
The function of a V-ring is to exclude dirt, water, or other aggressive media from entering bearing housings while also retaining grease. The V-ring stretches over the shaft and assumes a tight interference fit.
How do V-ring seals work?
It works by stretching over the shaft to create a tight seal along the shaft while the flexible lip seals lightly against the counterface at a right angle to the shaft. The V-Ring works well on its own and excels when combined with rotary shaft seals to help extend the life of bearings, oil seals, and shafts.

Can V seals can be used as a replacement for oil seals?
Designed with a long, flexible lip, the V-ring can act as a face seal, a lip seal or slinger. The counterface should be metal and can be the end of a gearbox housing, a washer, a suitable steel stamping, even the back of an oil seal. Generally no seal bore is required and no shaft preparation is needed.
How Do You Measure V seal?
The standard format is Inner size, Outer size, Width, all measured in millimeters. So, for example, a metric oil seal stamped with 25 45 5 has an inner ring size of 25mm, an outer measurement of 45mm, and a width of 5mm.

When did the V ring seal come out?
Developed in the 1960’s by FORSHEDA AB, it has been used successfully by OEMs and on the replacement market world wide in a broad range of applications. The V—Ring is the perfect seal to prevent the ingress of dirt, dust, water or combinations of these media while positively retaining grease.
What can a V ring seal be used for?
The V—Ring is the perfect seal to prevent the ingress of dirt, dust, water or combinations of these media while positively retaining grease. With its unique design and performance the V—Ring can be used with a wide range of bearing types.
When do you need an axial support for a V-ring?
Axial support When used to retain oil and grease, an axial support for the V—Ring is always required. For applications with a lower degree of stretch than recommended in the dimension tables (e.g. for ease of assembly) or with a shaft speed exceeding 6-8 m/s (depending on the rubber compound selected) an axial support is also necessary.
How big is a heavy duty V ring?
Available for shaft diameters from 105 (135 for LX) to 2025 mm. Profiles RME, RM and AX are heavy duty V—Rings that are designed primarily for large high speed bearing arrangements, i.e. rolling mill and papermaking machine applications.
