Aciclovir or acyclovir is an antiviral agent used to treat cold sores around the mouth caused by the herpes simplex virus, chickenpox, and shingles. It is also used to treat or prevent genital herpes mainly the repeat outbreaks of the disease.

When is the best time to take aciclovir?

Try to space the doses evenly throughout the day. If you take aciclovir: 4 times a day – you could take it first thing in the morning, at midday, in the late afternoon and at bedtime. 5 times a day – for example, you could take it at 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm and 11pm.
