Pfizer voluntarily recalled two batches of Duavee––marketed as Duavive abroad––from U.K. shelves after identifying faulty packaging that may have reduced the drug’s efficacy, the U.K.’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said Monday.
When will Duavee be available?
Duavee was eligible for patent challenges on October 13, 2017. By analyzing the patents and regulatory protections it appears that the earliest date for generic entry will be March 10, 2027.

Do you need progesterone with Duavee?
Well here you don’t need the progesterone and that may save you some side effects. Duavee pairs estrogen with Bazedoxifene which helps protect the uterine lining and breast against hyperplasia that may result from estrogen-alone treatment.

Changes in hormone levels, such as estrogen levels, during menopause can also increase your chance for gaining weight. Because Duavee contains estrogen, you may gain weight after you start taking Duavee.
