What is a metal pan landing?
Landing pans provide a foundation for poured concrete in commercial steel stair landings. They are strong, yet small enough and light enough to be easily handled by one or two workers. They are formed with the tightest tolerances, improving efficiency of the installation process for commercial steel stair fabricators.
What are stair pans?
The term ‘Pan-Stair’ is used when a staircase has treads that are like a pan or dish that will receive cement fill. The stringers trap the treads in on the sides which allows the treads to be set in between. Pan stairs typically have treads that are flanged up in the front and back to receive a cement fill.
How thick should floating stairs be?
A typical, standard stairway has treads that are 11⁄2 inches thick. Floating staircases commonly feature treads that are 31⁄2 inches thick, also referred to as butcher-block style treads. These treads are heavy and substantial both visually and when they are felt underfoot.
Are stairs without risers safe?
Floating stairways can be scary for parents with young children but they don’t have to be. Floating stairs, or open-riser staircases, are safe for children as long as they are built to the International Residential Code standards (IRC).
How thick should a stair stringer be?
If the stair treads are set into grooves routed into the stringer, in a 2x stringer the groove depth should be 1/2 the thickness of the stringer (typically 3/4″) and additional support by cleats or by gluing and end-screwing through the stringer sides into the treads is good practice.

Can I use OSB for stair treads?
