Your 1100 fore end may not fit the 1187 barrel. The contours of the gas cylinders are different. Older 1100 fore ends usually wont fit the 1187 barrel. At some point in production Remington changed the inletting and most later 1100 and 1187 fore ends are interchangeable.

So a Fixed barreled Modified lead choked will become a Full Choke for steel shot, and a skeet lead choke will become a Modified steel choke, a IC lead choke will become a Improved Modified choke for steel.

I’ve got a Rem 11-87 Police that is great. Love it a lot, works very well even with lighter loads and is an absolute ball to shoot. I don’t THINK I’ll ever have to face down routers in the streets. I should hope not. Mobs of rogue woodworking tools would suck to repel. I dunno, I think we have got to be talking about two different shotguns here.
