Can you emboss cardstock?
The type of embossing that I will be showing you is called dry embossing. You basically create a raised design (or a depression) on the surface of cardstock by molding it to a form. You don’t need to have a machine to do dry embossing, but it’s definitely the easiest way to do it.

If you are struggling with finding a good paper for embossing, then you can simply get embossing paper by Silhouette. You don´t need the machine to emboss it. Here is an Amazon link for the paper. Alternatively, you can also use drawing paper with little to no texture.

Which is better big shot or big shot plus?
The Big Shot Plus has a larger cutting surface. You can run 8 1/2″ x 11″ materials through it. They are also going to be making larger dies and embossing folders for it, some will release this year. The Big Shot Pro will cut 12 x 12 materials.
