Juveniles will have a woollier coat, with white spots and stripes on a bright red-brown coat. Sitatunga reside in the swamps, savannas, forests and forest clearings of central, eastern and parts of southern Africa, ranging from Cameroon and Central African Republic in the north to northern Botswana in the south.
What does a Sitatunga look like?
Most sitatunga are a reddish or greyish brown color with short, coarse fur. Sitatunga have patterns of vertical white stripes and spots along their body, and their cheeks, legs, throat, and forehead also have white patches. Male sitatunga also get a white stripe that goes down the middle of their back.
How do Sitatungas eat?
Sitatungas eat what is convenient. These antelopes eat bulrushes, sedges, and the leaves of bushes in the swamps as well as grass in adjacent riverine forests. They will also eat fallen fruit and chew the bark of some trees and bushes.

While it is localised and sporadic in western Africa, the sitatunga is still common in the forests of central Africa and certain swampy regions in central, eastern and southern Africa.
